“Potfest” at Scone Palace, Perth
The gates of the beautiful Scone Palace just outside Perth open every year in early June for this wonderful event to showcase the talented work of almost 100 ceramic artists and pottery makers from throughout the UK. Large white marquee tents are put up on the palace grounds and each have their work displayed for sale to the public. It truly is a feast for the eyes and so many styles of work are on display from functional pottery to large sculptures and even jewellery. This year it ran from 6th - 8th June and when I visited on Friday we were lucky to get lovely dry weather to enjoy the wander around all the lovely stalls and the beautiful palace grounds. There are even some trade stands for buying pottery supplies and raku firing demonstrations. I even had a nice catch up chat with a fellow DJCA graduate and friend Julian Jardine who creates stunning wildlife themed ceramic sculptures from his studio & gallery shop at Jardine gallery in Perth. I have been coming to this event every year for quite some time and always purchase something so this year I chose a beautiful raku pot (see photo above) by Perthshire based potter; Kristine Blackbourn at RakubyK , which now sits proudly in my home. If you check out my instagram reel you’ll see how stunning it is.
