Art Gallery - Perth

Another wet weekend here in Perthshire, Scotland, so a little wander around Perth’s Local Art Gallery was in order. The last time I visited, this was Perth’s Museum plus Art Gallery but Perth now has a new Museum in St John’s Place which is also worth a visit!

The very modern but impressive Unicorn light sculpture by Chila Burman welcomes visitors on entry and from here there are several large spaces housing a selection of art collections.

These spaces include the works of modern Scottish artists; Joan Eardley, Calum Colvin, Alison Watt, Sir William MacTaggart, etc, along with the more traditional (see photos above) such as John Duncan Fergusson, Margaret Morris and John Everett Millais. (who’s wife Effie Gray was Perth born!)

All in all it’s a Very easy way to spend an hour or two in a beautiful building and if you walk back down George Street there are several interesting independent wee shops to visit!
